Rio de Janeiro, September 12. There has been some sharp fighting OB the outskirts of the city. The insurgents attempted to land on the east shore of, the Bay, but were repulsed with the loss of 50 men killed.

, Washington, September 13. News from Brazil states that the rebels, under cover of a heavy bombardment, repeatedly attempted to land at Rio de Janeiro.

The forts, however, shelled the rebel warship, and the Royalists troops repulsed every attack. The rebels lost eighty men in the engagement.

The forts prevented the rebel warships running to sea.
