BANKRUPTCY.
In his statement before the Official Assignee yesterday, William Bennett said that he had started in business in Newmarket as a coal and firewood merchant, carter and contractor, in 1886, with another person. After twelve months they dissolved, and he carried on business on his own account until August, ISB9. After tins lie entered into other partnerships. After October, 1892, he began to make a series of losses in connection with road centracts at Birkenhead and Great North Road. The immediate cause of his filing was pressure on the part of three creditors. His liabilities amounted to £856 lis 2d, including £475 to previous partners. The only assets were the book debts, £210 13s 6d. which he estimated to be worth £60 13s 6d. He was at present in receipt of £2 2s weekly. He had a wife and children to support.
