CROWN LANDS HOARD.

A meeting of the Crown Lands Board, postponed from tho previous Tuesday for want of a quorum, was held at the Lands Board office yesterday. The Commissioner being absent as a member of the Gum Commission, Mr. L. J. Bagnall presided, and tho other members present wore Major Harris and Mr. Lundorc. Mr. Kensington, chief draughtsman, was also present to give the Board all necessary information. Lands Disposed Ok. — Tho following summary of lands disposed of since the Ist duly was submitted: — Occupation with right to purchase, 41-10 acres. Lease in perpetuity, 4581 acres. For cash, ( J'2 acres, being f>,'{ selectors of 9213 acres.

Sale of Kauri Timiieu. —The SurveyorGeneral wrolo in reference to the sale of kauri timber without, the land on which it grew, and suggested that cash should be paid for the timber, the land to go in the ordinary way ; one, however, not to go without the other. The question for the Board's consideration was how this was to be done. The consideration of the problem was postponed. New Zealand Ikon* and Steel Company.—The Surveyor-General wrote that the Government approved of the Boar l's action in declaring this company's lease forfeited. The letter was received.

Residence Permit. — The SurveyorGeneral suggested that Mr. Carton, who owns ,i section in Mangonui East, be allowed to reside with his parents for the present). The letter was received.

Nuonuotiiia Block.—By resolution the Board appointed Mr. Malfroy auctioneer for the sale of certain sections in this block advertised for sale.

Expenditure ok Thirds.—Schemes for the expeuditure of thirds of revenue from Crown lands, which accrue to the local bodies, wore received and examined by Mr. Kensington. Special attention was drawn to a letter attached to ho Raglan scheme, and it was agreed that the Raglan County Council bo written to, approving of correspondence being sent through the chairman or clerk, and that any objection taken to the schedule was only done in compliance with the regulations. Leave ok AiiSKNCi:, —W. Thomson, pariah of Tauhou, was granted six months' leave of absence, in order to enable him to seek employment. Paiutranca Domain Board.—The chairman of the Koad Board was appointed a member of the Domain Board in place of Captain Pye, deceased. Tokatoka Block.—R. 0. Smith asked that 9000 acres of Tokatoka swamp may be burdened with the cost of canals made by him through the swamp. Ib was agreed that the eastern portion, about 3500 acres, be loaded with l'u'oo, to be distributed over the area of the block.

Whakatank.The Whakataiio County Council's request for a landing reserve was granted.

Cheat Barrier Mininu Leases.The requestof Messrs. Peterson and others for protection over their Great Barrier mining leases until the Ist of October was granted. Leave of jAbsknck.—• 11. Black, Waintahi, was granted 12 months leave of absence from his selection.

Erection ok Stoke.—H. 01->en asked permission to erect a store and residence on Crown lands at Taulja Creek. He wanted a site of about 'JO acres. It was agreed to hold over the consideration of the application until the Commissioner's return.

Pakuranga. — The Surveyor - General wrote that the Pakuranga Road Board applied to have certain reserves vested in them in that parish. There were no objections, and the suggestion was agreed to. Applications for Land.—A number of applications for land were received and dealt with.

Hangers' Reports. —The reports of the rangers on various matters submitted to them were also dealt with.
