AUCKLAND. Messrs. A. Buckland and Sons' Weekly Report.At the Haymarket daring the past week meadow hay lias brought from 2s to2s9d; oaten sheaves, 2s to 3s; straw, Is 9d the ewt; chaff, £2 5s to £3 103 the ton ; hurley, 2s 2d and 2s 3d ; wheat, 2s 2d to 2s 6d; oats, Is lid to 2s 3d ; cocksfoot, 5s Gd ; ryegrass, 3s to 3s 9d the bushel. On Friday horse stock in usual supply. Useful workers in request; farm horses ranged from £12 to £17 10s; light harness, £9 to £14; undersized horses almost unsaleable. On Tuesday hides and skins were in demand and sold freely. Ox hides ranged from 2£cl to 4§d; cowhides, ljd to 2£d ; calfskins, 3d to 4Ad the lb ; tallow, 17s to 21s ; bones, 4s the cwt; sheepskins, better worth, ranged from 2-* 21 to 33 3d each; rough fleece wool, SJ& to GUI the lb. At the Pukekohe cattle sale held on Monday last there was a full muster of cattle, particularly dairy cows; these were eagerly bid for ; prices for good animals ranged from £6 10s to £9 15s. Young cattle ' were also in full numbers and better worth than at last month's market. Prices for calves mostly ranged from 23s to 34s each. At Remuera, on Thursday, dairy cattle were in demand. Heifers within a few weeks of calving, brought from £5 to £6756 d ; cows at profit, £0 12s Gil to £10 10s each. Store cattle, in moderate numbers, fully kept late values; 8-mouths calves, 345; 18-months heifers, £2 18s each. Fat calves, short of requirements, sold well. Fat cattle in less than usual supply, 200 sold, advanced in price. Steers were at 20s, cows 16s the 10011). Fat sheep, in short supply, 860 sold, were at irregular values, but ou the whole advanced in price. Wethers were from lis (3d to lGs ; ewes, 8s to 12s each. The 600 lambs advertised were in their wool, and ranged from 4s Gd to 6s each. Pigs, in moderate number, kept their values. Messrs. Hunter and Nolan's Weekly Report. — Horsefeed, grain, seeds, etc.: The supply has been ample, and a steady demand has existed. We quote :—Oats, 2s 3d to 2s 6d per bushel; maize, 4s ; barley, 2s Gd; fowl wheat. 2s 6d; bran, £3 15s to £4 per ton ; oaten chaff, £215 ato £3 ss. Horses : Activity has characterised the market; a. good many have beeu brought forward, and found purchasers at prices slightly ..favour of the vendor. The Durham Yards were completely filled on Friday, and there was a large attendance of buyers, the great attraction being a shipment of colts and fillies from Motiti, which sold at from £7 15s to £14 10s. A mob, also unbroken, from Whitford Park sold at from £5 15s to £13. Hacks, £4 10s to £9 5s ; light harness and medium draught, £7 to £13s 10s; weeds, £1 10s to £2 10s. Wool, hides, skins, tallow, bones : The quantities pitched at the Durham Yards were rather larger than usual, and competition was good. We quote :— Extra stout ox hides, 5d per lb ; stout, 3d to 4id; cow and steer, ljd to 2|d; damaged, gd to Id per lb ; calfskins, 3}d to 4£d per lb tallow, 18s 3d per cwt; bones, £315s to £4 per ton. Wool: Fleece, sfd to6J ; pieces, 3d to 3, l ,d per lb ; skins. Is 9d to 2s 3d each ; pelts 2d to is 9d. Cattle : A good many store and dairy cows have been brought forward, and changed hands without alteration in vaiue. More fat beasts would have found purchasers at fully the previous week's value. The Newmarket yards were fairly filled on Tuesday, the majority being stores, of which a lcrge proportion were well-bred steers in fresh condition, which, although disposed of, did not reach the expectations of vendors. We quote calves, £1 2s to £1 15s; yearlings, £2 to £2 10s ; two-year-old steers, £2 15s to £3 15s; three-year-old steers, £3 15s to £4 ss; grown steers, £4 15s to £5; dry cows and heifers, £2 to £2 15s. Beef, 18s to 21s per 1001b. Some averages of steers were £7 8s (Id. £6 12s Gd, £0, £5 17s Gd, £5 7s 6d ; cows, £6 Gd. i'G ss, £5 ss, £4 15s to £4 10*. Sheep were penned in moderate numbers at Newmarket, on Tuesday, and there was a slightly upward tendency in value. Wethers sold at from 9s Gd to 15s 3d; ewes, Gs to 9s Gd ; lambs, Gs Gd to Is 3d ; Pigs scarce and dear. Porkers sold at from £1 Gs to £1 15s. Messrs. G. W. Binnky and Sons report that they offered and cleared, under brisk competition, an average catalogue of hides, skins, tallow, and wool, at their sale on Tuesday, and quote as follow, namely :—Hides : Prime extra stout ox, sjd to sfd ; heavy stout, 4Jd to 4?d ; medium and steers, 2M to 3Jd ; heavy cow, 2Jd to 2!, d ; medium, l|d to 2d: kip and tilings, 2Jd to 3d; calfskins, •MA to 4|d ; stags, ljjd to l£d per lb. Skins : pelts, Is 3d to 3s 2d ; lambskins, la Id to 3s Id ; dry and damaged, 5d to 8d each. Wool: Lambs, 6d to 6|d; fleece, Gd to G|d ; mixed, 5d ; pieces, 2Jd toS.Jd per lb. Tallow : Firstclaws, 18s to 21s ; seconds, 14s to 16s per cwt. Bones: £3 to £4 per ton. Horns : Large and cleau, 2d to 2Jd per sot; inferior, 4" told per set; perished, no value.
