OPERA HOUSE Treasure?.; .. .. R. W. Giieville. WALTER BENTLEY SEASON. A BRILLIANT, TRIUMPH. MANAGERIAL NOTE. Never before in Auckland has any season excited so much public attention ami been received witli such marked approbation and appreciation. The great success achieved by Mr. Bentley has been remarkable in its unanimity, but although bis scholar!; and delightful studies have made hiin a great reputation throughout the world as an artist, the overflowing audiences prove that in Auckland there is a large class of the community for whom adequate relaxation has not at all times been provided. It it therefore to be hoped that the prosperous termination of this season (the actual financial result of which has been so eminently satisfactory) will be the means of inducing other celebrities to visit this colony, and thus supply a want which is clearlj felt, and provide an intellectual pleasure much to be desiderated. That ever great and supreme power, THE GKNKRAL PUBLIC, by the very liberal patronage accorded, and by the lavish and well-discerned applause bestowed on each performance, has likewise proved most emphatically that ait in its highest form, if that art be presented through the vehicle of genius, can be and is thoroughly appreciated in the .Northern Capital of New Zealand. In pursuance of the management's policy a widely diversified programme has been arranged for the few remaining nights of the season, and will embrace drama—legitimate, historical, romantic, and pastoral—comedy, comedy-dratmv and farce; calculated to catch the idiosyncracy of all members ol their clifentdle—thus TO-NIGHT. THURSDAY [for one night only]. The Romantic Love Play, THE LADY OF LYONS. Claude Melnotte .. .. Walter Bknilev. (One of his finest impersonations). TO-MORROW.(FRIDAY). January 6 (Fashionable Night), RICHELIEU, or The Conspiracy. Mr. Bentley's vivid intellectual presentment of this exceptionally interesting figure requires no comment, for the performance has passed into stage history, occupying an enviable place therein.
