IMPORTS. Per Waiapn, from Gisborne and the East Coast : 400 sacks maize, 19 casks whale oil, 49 pockets wool, 6 hides, 12 empty casks, 14 pigs, and sundries. Business on the wharves yesterday was practically suspended, owing to the holiday and the weather. ... The Tainui arrived at Rio on Sunday, witn her frozen meat in good condition. The schooner aiapu arrived from Uisborne and the East Coast yesterday morning, with a cargo of maize, wool. etc. Captain Nicholas reports having left Gisborne on December 23, with a N.W. wind, calling at Waihoti, i'ologa Bay, Waipiro, and Aw*nui. Rounded the East Cape at 10 p.m. on the 25tn ; put into Hicks' Bay on the 2uth, with strong westerly breezes and heavy sea, leaving tho latter place on the 27tn, with the same wind, ana arrived at Oreti at 4 p.m.; called at Raukokore, Te Kaha, Omia, and Maranui, leaving the latter! place at 4 p.m. on the Ist inst. Passed White Island at midnis'ht, Mayor Island at 11 a.m. on trie 2nd. and Mercury Island at 5 p.m., roundling Cape Colville at 7 p.m., and arrived In harbour early yesterday morning, with thick weather and easterly winds all the way up. Yesterday morning the Union S.S. Company's steamer Poherua went up to the wugur Works to discharge. She leaves for Newcastle about Saturday next. The cargo steamer Te Koa commenced taking in cargo for London yesterday, >.lhe leaves for Napier to-morrow. Yesterday the barque Kathleen Hilda hauled into the stream. She will leave for New York on the first change of the wind. The barque Lake Erie was berthed at the Quay-street Jetty" yesterday morning, and will start discharging cargo to-day. The Union S.S. Co.'s steamer Kanieri leaves for the East Coast at noon to-day. The s.s. Upolu leaves for Tonga and Samoa this evening. . /. _ T . oc , At five o'clock this evening the Union S.S. Co.'s steamer Australia leaven for the East' Coast and Wellington. The Northern S.S. Co.'s steamers Clansmen for Russell and the North, Wellington and Douglas for Whangsrei, and WaieSahi for Tauranga and Opotiki, all leave this even-To-morrow the Union S.S. Co. s steamer Ohau is due from the South with a largo of grain, etc. ■ , The Union S.S. Co.'s steamer Maoapouri is due from Sydney to-morrow.
