SPORTING.
So far the weather promises well for the holding of the Takapuna Jockey Club's Spring Meeting, to-morrow. As usual, the club have made arrangements with the Devouport Ferry Company for the issuing of a through ticket (including admission to the course) for Is, and this will no doubt secure a large attendance. The first race is set down to be started at a quarter past one p.m., and the events of the programme are to be run off in the following order :— Maiden Hurdle Race (one mile and a-half), Devonport Handicap (five furlongs and a-half), Maiden Plate (one mile), Hurdle Race (one mile and three-quarters), St, Andrew's Handicap (one mile and a-half), Novice Handicap (seven furlongs), Steeplechase (about three miles and a-half). Spring Handicap (six furlongs). Mr. Wynyard notifies that jockies will not be allowed to ride unless they hold licenses to ride from the Metropolitan Club.
Nominations for the following events to be run at the South Auckland Racing Club's Summer Meeting close to-night at nine o'clock : — Maiden Plate Handicap, First Handicap Hurdles, South Auckland Cup Handicap, First Handicap Steeples, Tradesman Plate Handicap, Flying Stakes Handicap, Christinas Handicap, Handicap Hurdles, Claude lands Handicap, Publican's Putse Handicap, South Auckland Steeplechase Handicap, Railway Stakes Handicap, and Welter Handicap. The attractive programme framed by the Auckland Trotting Club in connection with their Summer Meeting will require attention to-day, when nominations close for the following races Maiden Trot Handicap of 50sovs, Maiden Pony Handicap of 40sovs, Auckland Trotting Cup Handicap of 300sovs, Pony Cup Handicap of 130sovs, Pony Trot Handicap of 50sovs, Glasgow Trot Handicap of lOOsovs, Handioap Hurdles of 70sovs, Electric Trot Handicap of (jOsovs, Christmas. Handicap of 40sovs.

Hungerford's br c Wyvera, 3yrs. „ 8 8 TRAINING NOTES. A) Forbury, this morning, Dilemma and Conjuror shaped well in a mile'spin. Don Pedro and Rothamstead travelled six furlongs satisfactorily. Rondilla led Merganser and Cynisca fast over the same distance, finishing in that order. Tempest and Hippomenes went a mile fairly well. Pique and Skirmisher did good time for a half-mile. Derby, with a light weight, made an exhibition of out-post over the same distance, while Mountain beat Balfour badly over six furlongs. Crown Prince and Changeling were about a match for four furlongs. Reflection did a mile in good style, and Adventurer and Wayland covered a mile fast. A number of hores did slow work. '
