Wellington, Thursday. Mr. John Bell is gazetted official visitor to the Auckland prison, vice Mr. A. Coutts resigned. Constable Murray has been appointed clerk to the Licensing Committee for the Thermal Springs district; James Jordan to be clerk to the Resident Magistrate's and Warden's Court, etc., Te Aroha and Paeroa ; J. H. Hannan to be visiting justioe to the prison at Fort Cautley; Michael Downey, of Opotiki. to be a licensed interpreter ; Lieutenant Somers to be captain, and Louis Skinner to be lieutenant of the Victoria Rifles, Auckland. It is notified that the naturalisation fee to be paid by Chinese is £1. Mr. G. A. I'reece, late R.M. at Kaiapoi, has been authorised to act as a native interpreter.
