WELLINGTON RACING CLUB'S SPRING MEETING. Second Day,

In the Hack Hurdles Mariner, whp finished first, had only eight pounds invested on him, including three held by the owner, and would have paid £79 2s bnt a protest on the grounds of across was lodged against him, and was sustained. The amount put through the machine to-day was £4555, making £9438 for the meeting, or an increase of £559 as compared with last Spring Meeting. Mr. Howard Dodson has sold Beginrman, who r»n second in both Hurdle Races, to Mr. A. Boyle, of pier, for 60so?s. < THE RACING CONFERENCE. Wellington, Saturday. At the Racing Conference, rules for the registration of trainers, jockeys, and apprentices were added to the rales of racing. A motion from the Canterbury Jockey Club, that the 14 per cent. Government totalisator tax should be deducted from the 10 per cent, charged by the clubs, was postponed until next meeting. Rules for the regulation of the Hunt Club race meetings were moved by the Wanganni Jockey Club, and were agreed to. Letters from the Reefcon and Greymouth Clubs, askiug for a reduction of the amount of added money required to be given by clubs holdius; two meetings in the year, from £300 to £250 per diein were read, and it was resolved that the rules of racing could not be altered to suit the convenience of any particular club. The meeting adjourned till January, the date to be fixed later on.
