MASONIC.

The ceremony of installation of officers cf Lodge Zealandia, 2072, E.C. F. and A.M., took place in the lodge-room Whangaroa, on Thursday, the 3rd instant. The lodge was opened at five o'clock p.m. by the W.M. Brother John Shepherd, who, after delivering the ancient charges to Brother F. Fairburn, the W.M. elect, proceeded to install him into the chair of King Solomon, assisted by P.M.'s J. W. Williams, C. Gothard, and C. L. White. The -installed master then proceeded to invest his officers as follows : Senior Warden, Brother Seften ; Junior Warden, Brother J. Shepherd; S.D., Brother J. H. Mason ; J.D., Brother 1). I*. O'D. Molesth ; 1.G., Brother W. H. Sais ; secretary, Brother R. Shepherd; treasurer, Brother James Christie; tyler, Brother James Wotherspoon. The lodge was then closed. In the evening a ball was held to celebrate the occasion, there being about fifty persons present. Many others were in vited, but owing v to the threatening weather were prevented from coming. The ball and supper rooms , were tastefully decorated with ferns, flowers, and devices. Dancing began at half-past eight p.m., and was kept up till nearly five o'clock the next morning, Mr. Gothard making an excellent M.C. The Committee of Arrangement were Messrs. White and Williams, who worked Lard to make the affair a success, in which they were only enabled to succeed by the valuable assistance given by Mesdames Christie, White, and Williams. The room and its attractive decorations were rendered still more charming by the magnificence of the ladies' dresses, the belles among the unmarried ladies being Miss Christie and Miss Flavell; the married,, Mrs. Williams and Mrs. Blomfield, but where all were so well dressed in taste ib is hard to make a selection. One thing noticeable was there were no "wallflowers," bub all eagerly sought as partners tor the dances." This ' was the ball of the season, and the visitors are most certainly under a debt of gratitude to the members of the Lodge Zealandia for the invitations to the ball, and the cordial welcome _and hospitable . entertainment received, L < -' wn Correspondent.] ___»
