The Counoil of the Federation League having taken objection to the proposal that the formation of the Imperial Council should be dependent on the federation of both, the Australian and African colonies, the Committee of the Imperial Federation Council has explained that such was not their intention, and that the Council should be formed without regard to Federation. The request that Crown colonies should be represented equally with self-governing colonies was over-ruled. The Pall Mall Gazette, commenting on Sir Charles Lilley's statement regarding the ultimate independence of the colonies, fears that the Intercolonial Federation Bill will meet the same fate in the Queensland Parliament as did the Naval Defence.
