Sir William and Lady Gordon Cumming, who have now taken up their permanent residence on the ancestral estate of the Cummings in Morayshire, are exceedingly popular with their tenantry, and the manner in which, at both Altyre and Gordonstoun, they have personally interested themselves in providing fetes for the school children of the district has, it is said, occasioned through the country a universal feeling of goodwill towards them. Sir George Macleod, Regius Professor of Surgery at Glasgow University, died lately at his residence, Woodside Crescent, Glasgow, the immediate cause of death being angina pectoris.
