ECCLESIASTICAL.
The ♦Presbyterian Church has arranged for an exchange of pulpits to-morrow on the part of the ministers, the special object being to stimulate the members to increased earnestness and usefulness in the work of the Master. Circumstances prevent the exchange in some cases, and in others it will take place on another day. At St Mary's Cathedral, Parnell, the Rev G. Macmurray, M.A., will preach in the evening, on ''A Message to Old Colonists and Young New Zealanders." The anniversary services' of the Mount Eden Baptist Sunday School will be held in the large tent adjoining the church, owing to insufficiency of room for scholars and congregation, when Rev. James Blaikie will preach in the morning, Rev. C. Laws in the afternoon, and Rev. G. D. Cox in the evening. Fruit soiree on Tuesday. The Rev. W. Morley, Principal of Three Kings College, will preach at Ponsonby Baptist Church to-morrow morning. The third Sunday in October is observed by the Protestant Sunday-schools of the whole world as a day of special prayer. It has been customary for the Auckland Sun-day-school Union to arrange a series of united meetings at this season. In our ecclesiastical columns will be found particulars of this year's engagements. This evening, at the Pitt-street Lecture-hall, the Rev. W. S. Potter conducts a prayer meeting, and on Monday the Rev. H. Bull takes a similar gathering at the Beresford-street Congregational School-room. On Wednesday evening, in the Tabernacle, the annual sermon to teachers will be preached by the Rev. W. Morley, after which there will be a communion service, which the Rev. J. Blaikie will conduct. Sunday is left to schools to make their own arrangements, and on Tuesday evening, which is also left open, it is expected that, at the suggestion ot the Union Committee, a large number of the schools will hold evangelistic services. Several ministers have promised to preach specially to the young to-morrow. Elsewhere will be found an advertisement, announcing the seventh anniversary of the Helping Hand Mission, which is to be celebrated on Sunday next by special services in the Opera House. Each service is to be preceeded by an open-air gathering in front of the Opera House, led by the brass band of the Mission. .The Rev. Joseph Berry will give an address in the open air meeting, and in the Opera House, in the evening. The Rev. J. Blaikie, of the Tabernacle, will dedeliver an address in the afternnou. On the following Monday evening, a soiree and social evening is arranged for at the Choral Hall. In addition to other attractions., the children of the Sabbath-school, accompanied by an orchestral band, will sing a selection of hymns and melodies at all the services. The Rev C. Carter will give his concluding lecture on " Theosophy,' to-morrow afternoon, at the Y.M-C.A. A meeting of ministers and office-bearers of all the Methodist churches iu the Auckland district will be held in the Pitt-street Church on Friday evening next, when the Rev. W. Morley will read a paper on the subject of " Methodist Union." The meeting will be addressed by ministers and others on the subject. The prepartions for the grand bazaar in aid of the Sisters of Mercy, which opens in the Agricultural Hall on Monday evening next, are now well-nigh completed. There will bo five stallsnamely, town stall, Ponsonby stall, and stalls for flowers, refreshments, and pictures. Numerous gifts have been received towards it.
