At a meeting of the secretaries and directors of mining and sluicing companies, attended by about, SO, a resolution was passed protesting against the retrospective eSect of clauso 3 of the Mining Act Amendment Bill, because it will virtually confiscate property constructed at a cost of thousands of pounds, would lead to the destruction and consequent necessary abandonment of water-races, and would tend to encourage costly litigation.
