The Auckland three-masted schooner Frank Guy, which is aShore at Woollgoolga, has four feet of water in her well. Her mizzen-mast is gone, but if the Weather moderates it is .expected she will be floated off. THE CABLE RATES. ~ Adelaide, August 23. The Eastern. Extension Cable Company has agreed to increase the cable rates ; as it will be necessary to obtain the approval of other Governments, including Germany, Russia, ahd India, it will be impossible to complete formalities in connection with the new scale of rates before October 1. ,7," Sydney, Afigust 23. Mr. Kidd, the Postmaster-General, has. suggested to the Victorian overmen that the increased cable rates should be collected at this end, and held in trust until the Cable Company lias completed all formalities. : THE SANGUIRERUPTION. > Sydney, August 23. News from Sanguir Island } the scene of th£ recent terrible eruption, shows that . the volcano "is .quieting down. Hundreds of bodies have been found on the lowlands.
