The friends of the late Rev. W. Tebbs, M.A., of St. Matthew's, will be glad to learn of the continued success of his eldest son, Dr. Alisoun Tebbs. During the pasb year he has held the offices of junior and senior house surgeon at Westminster Hospital, and the list of honours which he has gained at Westminster Hospital during that period is something almosb unparalleled, as the following will show: — Entrance scholarship in natural science, treasurer's exhibition in anatomy, physiology, and histology, prizes in practical chemistry, materia medica, chemistry (organic and inorganic), principles and practice of medicine, midwifery and diseases of women, forensic medicine and toxicology ; first certificate in pathology, Frederick Bird gold medal and prize in medicine, pathology, midwifery, and diseases of women and children. Very few young men can boast of a record like the above, and we need not be surprised at the high testimonials he has received from the senior surgeons and lecturers at Westminster hospital. Dr. Tebbs has just been appointed to the much-coveted and importanb position of house surgeon at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge. There were 100 candidates for the position, and thab Dr. Tebbs should have been chosen out of such a number speaks volumes in his praise.. Not only is the position to be desired from a monetary point of view, bub also because it enables its holder to become a graduate of the University of Cambridge. • Dr. Tebbs has, we hear, entered Queen's College, the college of bis lamented father, and we have no doubt but thab we shall have the pleasure of hearing of his success also at the University. Mr. Basil N. Tebbs has also become a graduate of the University of Cambridge -• and has also entered Queen's College. It is reported that the University authorities have a very high opinion of his mathematical attainments,' which they consider of a very high order. The success of her sons (both, be it remembered Auckland boys) must be a source of great) comfort) and solace to their widowed mother.
