DEFEAT OF THE SULTAN'S TROOPS. SEVERE FIGHTING. PANIC AMONG THE EUROPEANS. Prut Anociation.—Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. Tangiers, August 10. The Sultan of Morocco's troops, while marching to meet the rebels, were suddenly ordered to return to Tangiers. Later. The rebels, forcing the attack, repulsed the Sultan's troops, who fled towards the city, and are being hotly pursued. The battle lasted for five hours, and there were heavy losses on both sides. The country is being devastated by fire and sword.
The European portion of the population are terrified.
