Wellington, Wednesday. The Primate has received the following telegram from the Bishop of .Newfoundland, and has acceded to the request made : —"The diocese is overwhelmed with disaster. An appalling fire has occurred at St. Johns, destroying the cathedral, the bishop's and clergy's houses, Sunday and day schools, synod hall, and orphanage. The cathedral cost half a million dollars, and was practically uninsured. The Churchmen are heavy sufferers, and are unable to do much.
