ACTION OF THE NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT. SIR GEORGE GREY GOING TO AUSTRALIA. TKI.EGRAI'H. —SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT. ] Wellington*, Monday. \Vhen' the House meets to-morrow Mr. W. Hutchison will ask the Government if they ;ll afford the House .an opportunity of urging upon the Queensland Government a reconsideration of their policy which seeks !0 introduce Kanaka labour into that country. At. a meeting of the Cabinet this forenoon this question was under consideration, and wa? , I understand, discussed at seme length. Ministers. I believe, regard the introduction of coloured labour into Australia, more particularly Kanaka labour, as a' question of great importance to this colony. I am informed that the Premier, in replying to Mr. Hutchison's question on the subject, will make an interesting announcement. Ho will inform rho House that it will be asked to pass a resolution inviting Sir George Grey to rei: sent the Parliament of New Zealand at .tin Conference which may be hold for the [im pose of considering the question of the employment of coloured labour in Northern Australia, or in any other manner that may In; deemed advisable. The House will thus bo afforded an opportunity of discussing the whole matter, and placing on record its views on this important question. I learn that he Government have ascertained that Sir George Grey would be willing to proceed to Australia in acronlance with a resolution of the House, inviting him to act as its delegate in this •iintter.
