BOARD OF REVIEW.
A meeting of the Board of Review of Assessment for Manukau County was held at Pukekohe Courthouse, on Thursday, May 26. Present: Messrs. S. Vaile (chairman), S. Luke and Major Harris, Mr. Lowry attended as assessor. There was a good list of objectors, but most of the objections had been adjusted by the department. The following appeared in support of their objections : — John Fitzgerald, reduced from £356 to £'286. In this case the reduction was taken off im-
provements, the value of improvements was reduced from £170 to £100. James Maxwell, £944 ; valuation sustained. Mrs. Chamberlain appeared, and asked that a reduction be made in part of her estate in Opaheke North. She had also ascertained since the meeting at Papakura that she was assessed for land in Karaka, of which she was not the owner. The consideration of these objections was deferred, the assessor of those districts not being present. A reduction was made in the value of the estate of Austin Brothers, Pokeno. Mr. F. J. Austin appeared. The next Court will be hold at Onehunga, on Saturday, May 28, when objections for the Borough of Onehunga will be heard. On Tuesday, May 17th, a Review Court was held at VVaiuku, before Messrs. S. Vaile, S. Luke, and Major Harris. Messrs. James Mellsop and T. Tindale, assessors were present. Owing to a delay occasioned bv the lists of objections being sent to Howick instead of VVaiuku, the Court adjourned till Wednesday, May 18. There were numerouii objections, but none appeared personally, as the values had been adjusted by the assessors. The assessment rolls and lists were signed by Mr. Vaile. the chairman, and the Court adjourned till the meeting at Papakura, on the {Otahuhu Correspondent.]
