THE FEARFUL STORM IN MAURITIUS.

The hurricane which swept over the Mauritius was exceptionally violent. Twenty-four churches, chapels, or colleges were blown down, while many of the sugar mills were wrecked. It is reported that 1500 lives were lost in the storm, while the list of those injured is stated to be thousands, and hundreds have been rendered homeless. Twenty - nine steamers have been wrecked along the coast.
