Butting : 11 to 2 agst Cloister, 100 to 14 agst The Primate, 10 to 1 each ;igst Ardcarn and Hollington, 100 to 8 agst Jason, 100 to 7 agst Tenby, 20 to 1 each agst Lord Arthur, Ilex, and Fat her fly nil, JO to 1 eichagst BillieTavlor, Midshipmiie, and Cruiser, 33 to 1 agst Lord of the Glen, 40 to 1 euch agst Partisan, Ulysses, Southani, Flying Column, and Rollesby, 100 to 1 oachaust Brunswick, Faust, and Mrldrum, 200 to 1 earh against Reliance, Nap, Paul Pry, and Bagman. One break away only preceded a capital start, the lot getting awav on excellent terms. Nap, on the inside, was first way, short! •• followed by Jason, Billee Taylor, Midshipmite, • ...uthani, lies, and Cloister, with Lord of the Glen, Tenby, Lord Arthur, and Father O'Flynn next, whilst the last lot were Cruiser, Bagman, Reliance, Uiysses, Paul Pry, and ltollesby. Nap cleared the ttrst fence iu front or Cloister and The Frunate, Bagman, Jason, and Midshipmite next, with Flying Column closing up with the front rank, and Billee Taylor, Ilex. Partisan, Cruiser, and Lord of the Glen heading the others. Nap, 'The Primate, and Cloister, cleared the second fence together, and at the third, Partisan, colliding with Ilex, fell —the only catastrophe, by the way, which occurred in the first round. As they ran into the country, Cloister went to the front, while Flying Column came through into second place, the pair going on with a long lead of Nap, Midshipmite, The Primate, and Father O'Flynn, while Ardcarn. Ilex. Tenby, and Lord Arthur w.-re well up wiih the leading divisions, and Kollesbv :.nd Paul Pry were last. All fenced beautifully, an 1 at Valentino's Brook the tlr>t time, Cloister and Flying Column were still in front, with The Primate, Nap, Father O'Flynn, and Ardcarn still at the head of the others. As the two leaders came into course, Flying Column went oil well ahead of Cloister, next comiug,Middiipmite, Lord Arthur, The Primate, Father O'Flynn, and Tenby. The pace was a real cracker over the course, and Cloister cleared tho water just in front of Flying Column, the pair bring well clear of Lord Arthur, Midshipmite, The Primate and Father O'Flynn, with Lord of the Glen next, followed by Cruiser (who here made a blunder, and nearly fell), Ardcarn, Reliance, and Hollingtou, with Tenby, Jason, Nap (who had lost his place), Southam, and Ilex next, in front of Faust., Billee Taylor, and Ulysses, with Paul Pry and ltollesby still bringing up the >ear. A chapter of accidents then be an, which thinned the Sold, as entering tho country the second time Billee Taylor bolted, at the second fence Tenby fell, and soon after that The Primate stopped to nothing. In the same order the leaders went on until reaching Boucher's Brook, which proved fatal to the chances of Meldrum, Rollesby, and Jason, while at the next obstacle but one Paul Fry ran out of the course, and was p died up, and at the Canal Point Nap fell. Cloister, going well, was still leading at this point, followed by Flying Column and Midshipmite, with Ardcarn, Ilex, Father O'Flynn, and Hollington well up, Lord Arthur, Brunswick, and Southam having dropped back into the ruck. Without change the loading division negotiated Valentine's brook, buthere Mr. Atkinson brought Midshipmite up to the leaders, and at the next fence Midshipmite took up the_ run. nitig from Cloister and Flying Cloud, but his ad vantage was not long enjo>ed. as at the next fence (the second before reaching the canal he fell, and Cloister resumed command, followed by Hying Column, Ardcaran, Father O'Flynn, and Ilex. These rapidly drew away from their Held, which now presented a straggling appearance, and no further change occurred until approaching the second fence from home, where Father O rlynti, full of running, drew into second place, and assuming command after clearing the obstacle, came on with the race in hand, and sailed home a gallant winner by twenty lengths from Cloister, who defeated Ilex by two lengths for second place, Ardcarn was fourth. Time, 9m. 48 1-oth s. Value of the stakes, £1630. .
