Over the single core cable between Wanganui and Wak.ipuaka the telegraph officials maintain a continuous flow of_ 82 message.-? per hour, averaging from '25 to 30 words each. Duplex instruments are being sent to Wakapuaka and VVanganui to put on to the single cable, and when these are in working order, probably by Saturday, the Department hope to raise the average to 12f> messages per hour. During the break messages will be sent across the Straits by steamer, to be sent either from Blenheim or Picton, as may b<? found most speedy. _____^
