GOLD EXTRACTION.— WITWATERSVUD GOLDFIELDS.

TO THIS EDITOR. Sir,—lt will, perhaps, interest: your readers to learn that the Macarthur - Forrest process, referred to in your Saturday's edition as having produced 11,5000z of gold at Johanneshers during April, is not a new process, as stated in ,the heading of the cable message, but is identical with that introduced here' by the Cassel Company at the Crown mines, Ivarangahake, some three years since, and by which more recently the Sylvia Company's concentrates have been so successfully treated. The gold referred to has been won almost entirely from tailings.—l am, etc., May 16,1892. Alfked James.
