KAUKAPAKAPA FARMERS' CLUB.
♦ The monthly meeting of the Kaukapakapa Farmers' Clwb took place in the hall on Wednesday evening, 11th iust., Mr. Davis Simcock in the chair. The attendance was not largo. Re small bird nuisance, a letter was received from Mr. Grigg, acknowledging the receipt of a letter from the club, ana stating that he had handed the letter to his man who had the patent, and that the latter would send circular with all particulars. A letter was received from Aratapu asking for a copy of the club's ruleß and information. The secretary was ordered to forward a copy. The discussion which took place on the best means to cope with the codlin moth, did not result in anything very definite. _ There is such a wide difference of opinion with regard to the use of Paris green, that it is not at all a conclusive fact that spraying with it is an effectual remedy ; besides it is asserted by careful observers that the moth will find a living and multiply in\ other fruits than apples, pears, and quinces—the tomato for instance, and the karaka berry. With regard to legislation, those present seemed to be pretty unanimous that some more effectual method of dealing with the pest should be found before passing any compulsory Act, and that the Government should offer reward, as suggested by the Otahuhu Fruit Growers' Association. On account of the small attendance at the last two meetings, it was decided that the next meeting wouid not take place until September.—[Own Correspondent.]
