[BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN' CORRESPONDENT. J Wellington, Monday. MINISTERIAL movements. The Minister of Lands is expected here on Thursday. Ministers will meet in full Cabinet on Friday next to consider the Parliamentary programme for the coming session. BUREAU OK INDUSTRY. Mr. Mackay, inspector, has returned from Gisborno and the East Coast. He will have employment for more than a hundred men at bushfelling this winter. The advance of settlement in the district is very rapid. About •Jo,ooo acres of bush are to be felled this winter. MINES DEPARTMENT. The Boards of Examiners under the Mines Act will hold their annual sittings in Wellington to-morrow. The examiners are:—Coalmining, Sir .T. Hector (director of geological surveys), Messrs. S. P. Smith '(Surveyor^ 11. A. Gordon (Inspecting Engineer of the Mines Department), H. A. McGregor (Inspector of Machinery), J. Bishop (Brunnerton), T. Brown (Denniston), and W. Shaw (Kaitangata) ; gold mining, Sir J. Hector, Messrs. S. P. Smith, H. A Gordon, 11. A. McGregor, T. A Dunlop (Thames), P. Q. Caples (Reefton), and G. Casley (Reefton).
INSURANCE. Mr. Darcy Irvine, formerly inspector of the Government Life Assurance Department in Wellington, has been appointed general manager of the Brisbane Equitable Life Assurance Company. A MUNIFICENT C, IT. An unknown friend has given in trust to Dr. Waters, rector of the Roman Catholic College here, a scholarship of the annual value of £42 in perpetuity. BU KG LA lis AND THE PRESS. The accountant's office of the New Zealand Times was broken into on Saturday night. The office-desk, containing some money, was torced and the money stolen. lIK WEATHER. To-day has been tine but cold. Everything looks washed out" after tho storms and floods of the last few days. The gardens are in an extremely dishevelled condition, but thiss'orm has been a firstrate scavenger. It has cleaned the whole city.
