In the afternoon the service of song, " River Singers" was given by the children, and the solos, duets, and quartettes by those connected with the school. In the evening the Rev. C. H. The Rev. A. Uarrick conducted the morning service, and tho Rev. J. Hill the evening service, both preaching appropriate sermons. Special collections were taken up in aid of the church funds. Yesterday afternoon Miss Arnold, who has just visited tho Southern Baptist Churches as representative of the Baptist Indian Zenana Mission, addressed the children of the Tabernacle Sunday-school on the work of the mission, especially so far at it related to the young, the children of the school collecting yearly for this mission. To morrow evening a special missionary meeting will be held at half past seven in the Ponsonby Baptist Church, when Miss Arnold, who is a member of the Indian Mission, will deliver an address on " Missionary work in India," and a collection will be taken up in aid of the mission. An advertisement elsewhere states that the Rev. G. C. Grubb, M.A., will commence a five days' mission in the City Hall to-morrow (Tuesday) evening- Owing to the detention of the s.s. Manapouri at Wellington through heavy weather, she did not pet away for Auckland till yesterday afternoon, consequently it will be impossible for Mr. Grubb to be here according to announcement in the advertisement. No doubt the opening of the mission will be postponed till Wednesday evening.
