MASONIC.
Preparations for the installation of the Grand Master of Free and Accepted Masons of ew Zealand, which takes place on Wednesday, 27th April, are proceeding very satisfactorily, and from the great interest in the approaching event evidenced throughout the colony, the occasion promises to be one of the most important and most numerously attended gatherings of Masons which has ever taken place in .New Zealand. The :iarangement«, as at present proposed, are : That the Board of (General Purposes shall meet in the Masonic Institute, on. Tuesday, '26th April, at half-past seven p.m., for transaction of ordinary business, and 'to prepare reports for submission to Grand Lodge, which is convened to meet on Wednesday, the 27th, at noon, in Freemasons' Hall. It is then proposed, after disposing of the routine business of Grand Lodge to adjourn, say, about threa p.m. till half-past seven p.m. in the Chora Hall, for the election and installation of the Most Worshipful the Grand Master Brother Malcolm Niccol. For this ceremony Masons will assemble from Invercargill to the North Cape to the number probably of from three to four hundred, and the proceedings will be conducted with all the solemnity and dignity that their importance demands. The musical portion of the ceremonies will bo in the hands of Brother Carl Schmitt, which is a sufficient guarantee that full justice will be done to it, and a strong choir of vocalists and powerful orchestra are now in active rehearsal. Brother Henry Thomson, M. W. Grandmaster, will install his successor, and thus fittingly crown his labours on behalf of the Grand Lodge of New Zealand. In consequence of Brother Malcolm iNiccol's election as Grand Master, the headquarters of the Grand Lodge are being removed from Christchurch to Auckland, a circumstance which will bring more forcibly under the notice of Northern brethren the benefits accruing from the establishment of the National Grand Lodge. . While the visitors from the South are in Auckland advantage will be taken of the opportunity to establish a Supreme Chapter of Royal Arch Masons, a meeting for this purpose having been called for the afternoon of Wednesday, 27th April, in the Masonic Institute.
