BANKRUPTCY
DEBTORS STATEEXT.
John Tt ckey, in his depositions before the Official Assignee yesterday, made the following statement : — lam a bulkier by trade, but sincn lSS.'}, when I started on my own account, I have combined with it the busi ness of tin undertaker. The only capital I had was about £30, borrowed on my life policy. During the whole time I have never more than made a bare living. In November, 1590,1 finished my last building contract, and found myself £50 short of the cost, after allowing myself '20s per week for my labour. I have a wife and two children to support, and consequently got into arrears fo:- the necessaries of life. Since November, 1890, I have had to depend upon the undertaking business, and have failed to pay my way. My present debts amount to i.''2'27 Is lid, and pressure from creditors necessitated my tiling. The only assets 1 have consist of odds and ends of timber, and tools, £4 ; book debts, £13 7s tid ; and household furniture, £20. I paid my solicitor £8 lor costs of tiling—the money was he proceeds of a book debt collected at the boginn ng of this month. 1 have disclosed everything I possess in the nature of assets, and there is no possibility of my suggesting any compromise with my creditors. A meeting of creditors in the estate of Etna to Aruru, convened for yesterday, lapsed for want of a quorum.
