[from OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Thames, Saturday. Aloanataiari. —Cleaning up and retorting after a three weeks' run took place this morning on behalf of this company, when a return.of 2240z 16dwt of melted gold was obtained as the result of crushing 613 tons of general dirt, and 501b of picked stone. Victoria. —The contractor for the erection of the old Prince Imperial winding machinery upon the site of Tookey's shaft, is making very good progress with his contract. The site and foundations for the engine have been prepared, and the engine itself placed in position, whilst the erection of the building is proceeding very satisfactorily. Sylvia.—The actual value of the gold and bullion won from this company's mine since the starting of its reduction works, is as follows :—Gold, 118 ( £4303 10s; bullion, 9851 oz, £7914 : total, £12,217 10s. During the absence of Dr. Schiedel on his holiday trip to Melbourne, Mr. Richnagel, the company's assayer, will supervise the working of the reduction plant. Norfolk.—Driving is being continued upon the main reef at No. 3 level, and excellent prospects are being obtained. The reef at present is about three feet in thickness, and is still comprised of a clay formation, mixed with gritty quartz and mineral seams, whilst colours of gold are freely seen every day. An excellent channel of white sandstone country, interlaced with mineral veins, is being penetrated, and everything points to a large and valuable block being eventually opened up on the reef.

Qdartz for Shipment.—During yesterday and to-day the stonebreaking machine at the I.aMonto Furnace building has been employed in reducing 325 bags of quartz brought down by Mr. E. K. Cooper from his Jubilee mine at WaiteUauri, which it is his intention to ship to England for treatment per the s.s. Kaikoura, which leaves Auckland on the 19th inst. Pending its reduction the quartz which was being put through the machine on behalf of the proprietors of the Mount Zeehan claim, Waiomo, has been kept back for a few days, but its treatment will be continued as soon as the machine is available.

Moanataiari. —The mine manager reports : On Friday lOlbs of fair picked stone were got from the crosslode in the drive being driven from the hangiugwall of the Golden Age reef, on the Point Russell level. The ode is a nice compact body of stone about 0 iuclies thick. REEFTON RETURNS. [BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Grkymouth, Sunday. The Reefton gold returns for the week were Globe, Slloz from 190 tons ; Dark, 570z from 60 tons ; No. 2 Dark, 1220z from 90 tons; Alpine, 1i520z from .'SOO tons; Welcome, 1590z from 19 tons; Gallant, 1430z, cleaning up; Cumberland, 2250z from (15 tons; Alexander Dredge, 'JSoz retorted gold for five days.
