NEW ZEALAND RAILWAYS.
[by telegraph. own correspondent.] Wkllinoton, Tuesday. A late number of the American Engineering News, received to-day by the San Francisco mail, fives a long and laudatory account of the New Zealand railways, and of the engines and carriages built at Addington, with copious illustrations, representing (1) the class " W" engine, entirely built at Addington works ; (2) the class "N' express engine, designed by Mr. R. J. Scott, of (Jhrisichurch (at present one of the (Jhristchurch College professorial staff), and built at the Baldwin Works, Philadelphia, U.S.A. ; (3) the new " corridor" first class carriage, constructed at Addington. Various new departures in the New Zealand rolling stock are commented on with much interest and general approval by the American engineer. _____
