AQUATICS.
AUCKLAND YACHT CLUB.
A special general meeting of the members of the Auckland Yacht Club was held yesterday evening to consider the question of yacht racing. The Commodore (Mr. John (Wiseman) presided, and there were present : Messrs. A. J. Gibbs, Carmiua, Webster, Bevan, Mace, Davis, Haines, Ilorton, Benjamin, •). Gibbs, Kilfoyle, Reynolds, and McCorinick. On the motion of Mr. A. J. Gibbs, seconded by Mr. Haines, it was resolved, " That the club hold a sealed handicap race for all classes of yachts belonging to the club, for a trophy.' The date for the race was fixed for March 5, a sailing committee being appointed to carry out the necessary arrangements. Oil the motion of Mr. A. J. S. Gibbs, it was resolved, " That the Club send to Mr. Waymouth a letter congratulating him on winning the second-class championship at the N.Z.Y.A. regatta." The committee appointed to make arrange nients for the annual picnic, to be held on March 12, met at the conclusion of the Club meeting, and decided to hold a series of aquatic events on arriving at the rendezvous chosen. Mr. Featherstone, with characteristic generosity, has placed his handsome steam yacht Nautilus at the disposal of the Club for the occasion.
A race for all classes of open boats (regatta regulation) will take place morrow, starting from the wharf at naif-past two p.m., for the three prizes named in the advertisement. Entries will be received bv Mr. R. Reynolds up to noon to-morrow. The course is from the wharf round the Sandspit buoy, North Head, round Southern Cross, round s.s. Arawata; twice round.
