Sydney, January 31. Sir Samuel Griffiths has interviewed Mr. Dibbs on the New Hebrides question. Both agreed that the Presbyterian authorities should appeal to the President of the United States, and induce him to come to an understanding with the other Powers, in order so stop the practice of making spirits and firearms a medium of exchange between the traders and natives. The French and German Governments have intimated their willingness to adopt a similar regulation to the one suggested by the British, but the United States lias declined to concur, and while this 13 so Germany and France hold back.
BANK OF VAN DIEMEN S LAND!
Hob art, January 30. At a meeting of the creditors of the Bank of Van Diemen's Land, the chairman intimated that the creditors would be paid in full.
WESTERN AUSTRALIAN FINANCES. Perth, January 30. The Colonial Treasurer's Financial Statement is of a glowing description. The revenue for the year exceeded the estimate by £53,000, and the expenditure was £10,000 less than the estimate. The balance to credit at the end of the year was £107,000. The estimated credit balance for thr, current year is £490,000. It is intended to raise the balance of the loan as soon as possible and prosecute the construction of public works.
SIR ,W. ROBINSON. Perth, January 30.
Sir W. Robinson, Governor, has accepted the Agent- Generalship of Western Australia at a salary of £1500 per annum.
THE LABOUR ELECTORAL CONFERENCE.
Sydney, January 30. The Labour Electoral Conference hag decided to recommend the various branches to call upon the members who were recalcitrant during the recant crisis to resign their seats.

Sydney, January 30. The Te Kapo remained hard and fast at high tide, and her cargo is being discharged.
Later. The Union Company's Te Kapo. which went ashore near Newcastle, has been floated off. It is believed she lias not sustained any injury.
Launceston, January 30. The Rotomahana, which went ashore' in the River Tamar, has been floated oil uninjured.
