Sydney, January 31. Sir Samuel Griffiths has interviewed Mr. Dibbs on the New Hebrides question. Both agreed that the Presbyterian authorities should appeal to the President of the United States, and induce him to come to an understanding with the other Powers, in order so stop the practice of making spirits and firearms a medium of exchange between the traders and natives. The revenue for the year exceeded the estimate by £53,000, and the expenditure was £10,000 less than the estimate. The balance to credit at the end of the year was £107,000. The estimated credit balance for thr, current year is £490,000. It is intended to raise the balance of the loan as soon as possible and prosecute the construction of public works.
