This evening the January meeting of the Port Albert Agricultural and Pastoral Association came off at Mr- D. Jones', Wellsford. Ihe attendance was' rather less than usual. M. T. A. Gubb occupied the chair. After formal business, and the announcement that the next meeting would be at Mr. C. Thompson's, subject, " The Horse," the 1892 show came on. It was unanimously resolved, " That, in lieu of a decision previously arrived at, any person who may enter exhibits up to 30s shall be allowed to enter everything additional free of charge." The paper for the evening, " On Implements," by Mr. D. Jones, was of interest as well as useful. After giving an outline of the progress in those used in agriculture from rude and ancient times to those now in vogue, the chief modern appliances of husbandry were described. The cultivator or sacrifier was rather fully dealt with in the after discussion, as being often preferred to the plough in moving the ground surface and for orchard work.. The contrast and difference of farming here and in the old country received some attention. In the matter of ploughs, the swing plough was held to be the best for general use.[Own Correspondent ] What Shall I Drink ? — The Lancet says" We have tested the Montserrat Lime-Fruit Juice, and found it sound and free from adulteration. It is far more wholesome drink than any form of alcohol." Annual importations over 100,000 gallons. Sold by all storekeepers, Beware of imitations.—Auckland : J. Edson, Chemist,
