FATAL ACCIDENT AT OAMARU.
« [BY TELEGRAPH,—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Oamaru, Monday. A sad fatality occurred on the wharf here. A meat truck was tendering the ship Lutterworth, and was c»ught by a ropo from the vessel and hauled off the rails on to the ship's side. Five sailors were sent aloft to the mainyard to prepare the block and tackle to lift the truck, and while so engaged the truss of the mainyard fell to the deck. A seaman named Frank Keid was pitched headfirst into the hold and killed instantaneously. The second mate was bruised and his ankle injured. The other three men escaped.
