ANNUAL CHURCH MEETING.
CHRIST CHURCH, ELLERSLIE. The annual meeting of parishioners was held on Wednesday evening, 13th Inst., the Rev. James Marshall in the chair. The chairman expressed his regret at the meagre attendance, which seemed to indicate a lack of interest in church work. Mr. Carter, people's churchwarden, read the report of the vestry for the past year, which was of a most favourable character. In the report for the previous year, an increase in the number of attendances at public worship had been noted, and there was a still further increase during the year just closed. There was also a considerable increase in the attendances at Holy Communion. As regards the financial position of tho church there was an increase in the amount received from offertories, both for general church purposes and for special objects. The vestry had made some necessary improvements in the church grounds, and had paid off a further instalment (£25) of the church debt, leaving a balance to credit at the close of the year. Mr. Nolan was appointed minister's warden, and Mr. R. i arter was elected people's warden for the ensuing year. Colonol Dawson, Messrs. Tlieo. Cooper, McFarland, and W. Hall were elected vestrymen. The usual votes of thanks were passed and the meeting terminated.— •Own Correspondent.]
