SPORTING.
OTAHUHU RACES. The meeting to be held to-morrow at Otahuhu under the auspices of the Oneiiuiiga Racing Club should draw a good attendance. The programme to bo gone through consists of eight events, as follows : —Maiden Plate, one mile ; Hurdle Race, one mile and a-half; .Onehunga Cup, one mile and a-half; Pony Race, five furlongs; Steeplechase, about three miles; Selling Race, five furlongs; and Welter Handicap, one mile. Trains are timed to leave the Auckland station at 12.30 and 1.20 p.m. The first race is set down to be started at 1.30 p.m. ONSLOW TROTTING CLUB. A meeting of the committee of the Onslow Trotting Club was hold last evening, in the Edinburgh Castle Hotel, Symonds-street, Mr. George Mcßride presiding. The business of the meeting was to arrange for the next race meeting, which is fixed for the sth of March, and which is to be hold in Potter's Paddock. The programme for this Meeting, which includes a wheel race in sulkys, the first of its kind ever held in Auckland, has already been passed by the Auckland Trotting Club. TROTTING IN CANTERBURY. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PKK.SS ASSOCIATION.] CIIRISTCHURCH, Thursday. At a meeting of owners and trainers of trotting horses, held to-night, 50 were present. It was decided to form an association. The movement has been caused by the feeling that owners are not fairly treated by suburban clubs. Owners are not satisfied with the stakes offered, and the general conduct of the meetings.
General entries in connection with the Takapuna Jockey Club's meeting are due tonight at 10 o'clock. Mr. Mark, secretary Auckland Trotting Club, notifies horse-owners that settling in the recent meeting will take place at two p.m., at the club's offices, Durham-street.
