The migration and emigration returns for December show the arrivals to have been '2022 persons, and the departures 949, leaving a balance in favour of the colony of 10S3 persons. The arrivals were :—From the United Kingdom, 359 : Now South Wi\le«, 1012; Victoria, 431; Tasmania, 104; other places, S6. The departures were :— To the United Kingdom, 63 ; New South Wales, 498; Victoria, 254: Tasmania, 83 ; other places, 51. The Chinese arrivals are given as nil, and departures 23.
