AUCKLAND. Messes. A. Buck land and Hons' Weekly Report.—At the Haymarket during the past week the sales have been small; hay at 2s 9d the cwt. and straw from 15s to '21s the load ; now potatoes, £6 6s per ton; maize, Is lit! and 2a; oats, 2s Id and 2s 2d. The horse j sale on Friday was fully supplied. The spring-cart horses advertised by Air. Murray brought from £9 5s to £23 each, or an average of £15, and the harness from £1 to £2 5s the set. Most of the horses were sold at an advance on prices ruling before the holidays. At the hide and skin sale on Tuesday the ox hides, which were light, sold from 2.M to 3kl; extra stout up to s|d; cows, lid to 2|d ; calfskins, 4d to s|d per lb; tallow, 16s 6d to 173 per cwt. : sheepskins, 2s to os 2d ; lambs, Is Id to Is 10d ; pelts, lOd to Is lOd each. At Waiuku sate, on Saturday, there was a full muster of cattle, ami the prices obtained similar to those ruling at Remnera. At the Reinuera yards on Thursday store cattle were in demand at late values. * Dairy cows near calving or in full milk were better worth ; prices ranged from £4 15a to £6 10s each. Fat cattle plentiful, and many withdrawn ; prices irregular. Steers ranged from 17a to 19s; cows, 12s to 15s the 1001b; 22$ sold. Sheep and lambs yarded in full numbers ; IIS sold; last week's values fully sustained. Fat wethers ranged from 13s 6d to 16s 9d : ewes, lis 9d to 13s 9d ; aged store ewes, 4s (3d to 6s ; store two-tooth wethers, Ss 3d to 12s 6d ; lambs, in full number, 362 sold, kept late values; well - fatted lambs brought from 9s to 13s 6d ; inferior, from 6s to Ss 6d each ; pigs, in limited supply, were at late values. Messrs. Hunter and Noun's Report.— Grain, seeds, horse feed, Are. : The supply has been ample and moderate demand, with little or no fluctuation in value. We quote : Oats, 2s to 2s 3d per bushel; maize, Is lid to 2s 2d per bushel; bran, £4 per ton ; chaff, £2 12s 6u. Horses : A good many have been I brought forward, and a brisk demand has [ existed for those of a really good stamp. Rather a large number was submitted by auction on Friday at the Durham Yards; bidding was brisk throughout, and particularly so for useful horses. We quote hacks at from £4 10s to £11 ss; light harness and medium draught, from £5 15s to £11 10s; unbroken stock suit-able for saddle and harness sold at from £5 12s to £12 10s. Wool, hides, skins, &c. : Above average quantities were pitched at the Durham Yards on Tuesday. but there was an absence of really stout heavy ox hides. We quote: Stout ox, 4d to 4id per lb; light to medium, 2|d to 3kl ; cow, l|d to ; calfskins. 3|d to Sid per lb; sheepskins, 2s 3d to 3s Sd each, pelts, Is to Is 3d; lambskins, Is 3d to la Su each ; tallow. 17s per cwt : bones, £4 15a to £5 per ton. Cattle have been brought forward in increased numbers; the demand has been steady for ail descriptions without any material alteration in value; average numbers were disposed of by auction at Newmarket on Tuesday and Pukekohe on Wednesday. Fat beasts barely maintained the previous week's values, ranging from 17s to 19s per 1001b. Some averages of fat steers were £8 17s 6d, £7 2s, £6 19s, £6 15s, £5 17s 1 4d, £5 5s ; cows, £4 17s 6d, £4 15s, £4 12s 6d, £3 10s, £3 os. Sheep were penned in limited numbers at Newmarket on Tuesday, and were keenly competed for: wethers sold at from 13s to 16s 9d ; ewes, 9s to 12s ; lambs, 7s to lis 9d. —At our hide and skin sale; held on Tuesday, a large catalogue was offered and cleared. Prime stout ox hides realised from ijjd to 5Jd ; heavy stout, 4|d to 4|d : heavy, 3|d to ; medium and steers, 2d to 3|d ; heavy cows, i'jd to - 2|d ; medium, IJtl to '2d ; damaged. Id to ljd ; calf skins, to s|d per lb. Skins : Full-wooled, 3s Id co 3s Sd ; local butchers' pelts, Is to Is '2d ; lambskins, Is 6d to Is Sd ; country pelts. 3d to Is ; lambskins, lOd to Is 4d each. We sold, on Wednesday, at the Freezing Company's Works, 1091 lambskins from Is 5d to Is 6d, and 631 pelts from lOd to Is Id each. Wool : Small lots of fadges and bags realised 5Ad to (jjd for fleece, TJd for washed, and from to for pieces. Tallow, los to 19s per cwt; bones, £4 15s to £5 per ton.

The quality of the article was pronounced satisfactory. Dairy-made brought 108s. The total quantity of wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is quarter and for the Continent, 1,2^8,000 quarters. Butter : Prime dairy made is selling at 10&( to 112s per cwt. ; medium, factory, 112 d to 118s; choice lots, 118s to 1225. A consignment of inferior quality brought by the s.s. Valetta is affecting the market. Messrs. Trengrouse and Company are enquiring into the cause of the damage sustained by the recent shipments of butter.
