TriE New Year snorts were held on Friday afternoon. Ist January, in Mr. Robert Sinclair's paddock, at the back of the homestead. There was a large fathering, who seemed to enjov themselves under the shade of the pines. Most of the events were well contested. The following is a list of the events and prize-winners : — 150 yds Maiden Race ; Ist prize, 15s ; 2nd, ss; five entries.— Ist; J. Cameron, 2nd. Running High Jump; Ist prize, 7s 6d.— Won by John Shanks (three entries). 250vds Handicap; five entries.—First prize won by James Stewart; second won by Willie Simcock. One Mile Race Handicap; three entries. — Ist prize, 30s, Sam Hamilton; 2nd, 15s, James Stewart. Vaulting; four entries.lst prize, 7s 6d, Jno. Shanks. Married Ladies' Race of 50yds, four entries. —Ist prize, 7s 6d, Mrs. R. Drinuan; 2nd, 2* 6d, Mrs. Daniels. 440 yds Handicap Race ; four entries.—lst prize," 255, J as. Stewart; 2nd, 10s, Sam Hamilton. Obstacle Race ; six entries.—lst prize, 255, Willie Simcock ; 2nd, 10s, Davis Simcock. Hurdle 120 yds; three entries.—lst prize, 20s, Davis Simcock ; 2nd, 7s fid, Jno, Stewart. 150 yds Handicap ; three entries.—lst prize, 20s, James Stewart; 2nd, ss, .John Stewart. Tug of War ; married v. single ; eleven of each.—No prize attached. Result doubtful, as others than the original number joined in the tug. Single apparently had the best of it.—[Own Correspondent.]
