AUCKLAND HARBOUR BOARD.

The regular meeting of the Auckland Harbour Board was held yesterday afternoon. Present : Mr. M. Xiccol (chairman), Messrs. «J. Savage, J. Trenwith, P. Dignau, J. Butcher, S. W. Alison, C. V. Houghton.

Notice TO Makinkrs.—A circular was received from the Department of Ports and Harbours, Brisbane, enclosing a notice to mariners respecting a reef on the north-east coast of Queensland ; also a notice from the same department respecting beacons on reefs off Princess Charlotte Bay, inner route Torres Straits. It was agreed to give the notices the usual publicity. Collision* off Queensland. —The Marine Board of Queenland forwarded a printed copy of the decision of the Board respecting the collision between the s.s. Euremblaand the schooner Lismore, off Clarence River Heads, on the Ist November, 1891. The collision was attributed to an insufficient lookout from the s.s. Eurembla, and the third officer's certificate was suspended. The report was received. South Australia. —A notice to mariners was received from the South Australian Board respecting a beacon at Point Charles which had fallen away. This was received.

Calcutta.The Marine Department of the Government of Bengal sent a irotice to mariners intimating that, the red buoy at the entrance of Janjira Harbour which had been removed by a S. W. monsoon was replaced on the 12th October. This report was also received and with the others ordered to be posted up for general information. Finance Committee. —The report of the Finance Committee was adopted, and the statement of funds was a? follows :—General account: To balance in bank, £9033 16s 9d ; cash in hand, £243 6s Id : total, £9277 2s lOd. By accounts ordered to be paid as above, £7014 4s 7d, less refused sinking fund account (£377 2s Id), £0137 2s Gd: £3140 os4d; cash on fixed deposit, £0500 ; balance (cr.), £9640 0s 4d. The Railway Wharf.— The foreman of works, Mr. J. Taylor, reported in regard to the Railway Wharf as follows : —" 1 have to report that the decking on that part of the Railway Wharf over which the train run 3 is in a very rotten and dangerous condition, and would recommend that the whole of the decking of Railway Wharf be renewed at once, at an estimated cost ot £2400." On the motion of the chairman, the matter was rtferred to the Works Committee, and he pointed out the necessity for something being done. They had a fund for the purpose from the reserve fund set aside for renewing wharves. The motion was carried. Miscellaneous.—ln regard to the application of Mr. Anscomb to rent certain land at Calliope Dock, the Harbourmaster reported against it, and the application was declined. The night watchman on the wharves reported the fact of certain lamps having been extinguished. This was referred to the Gas Company, who sent a satisfactory reply explaining that the necessary repairs had been effected. Annual Balance.— The Chairman said Mr. Brigham had prepared the annual statement of accounts, but it was not yet ready for submission to the Board. It showed that the revenue this year was £1642 10s lOd in excess of that of last year.
