SUPPLIES FOR LABOURERS.
TO THK EDITOR. • Sir, —You have recently been rendering valuable service by throwing your powerful search, light on various shadowy spots in certain public works contracts with those special friends and favourites of Ministers now in power—(so at least we a:re again and again assured by themselves)—the labouring classes of this colony. From rumours at present in circulation, which of course may not be reliable, it would appear as if some further light might possibly be thrown with advantage upon the prices charged these innocent road contractors for " tucker," e.g., lee us specify flour and potatoes ; likewise, if we could learn the names and positions of the parties supplying said provisions to said road-men.—l am, &c., As Old Sap. Auckland, December 31.
