The consideration of the application was deferred. ' Crown Grants. — Crown grants were issued to I-.lr. Andrew Lang for 79 acres in the Hikurangi district, and to Mr. John Gumming, for 79 acres, lot 18, Mangatete, Mangonui. 1 Road Reserves.—The Komokoriki Road Board applied that the northern portion of section 75, and the north-eastern portion of section 69, Komokoriki, be set apart as reserves for road purposes. The application was granted. Depasturing Lease.—An application from Mrs. Wellby, that she should be allowed tc surrender the depasturing lease of the Parahaka Block, Bay of Islands, was granted. Residence.—Mr. Thomas Hedley appliet' for permission to reside on the freehold loi adjoining his land at Hukerenui. The ap plication was granted, on condition that im provements were effected. Kauri Timber. —Mr. J. Macfarlane offeree 6d per 100 feet for kauri timber in the parish of Mahakirau, Coromandel. It was decided that the kauri timber on section 6, and the northern part of section 4, Mahakirau, be offered for sale by auction at an upset price of 6d per 100 feet. Forest Reserves.—The Surveyor-General recommended the reservation of the remaining Grown lands in the parish of Karangahape, Waitemata County, not open for selection, in order that the bush should be preserved. It was decided accordingly that the sections should be declared forest reserves. They are Sections 75, 110. 16,18, 19, 68,65, and 111. Fencing.Permission was given to Mr. J. Hughes to cut timber for fencing purposes at Waihi South, Rotorua, and Tairranga counties. _ .t . _ .

Land Forfeited.lt was resolved that lot 75, Okaihau, 75 acres, a homestead selection held by T. aud J. Hodgson, should be declared forfeited, and again offered for occupation under the Act of ISB7. A Completed Purchase.—-YVith regard to application from Mr. 'W. Hodgson to complete the purchase of his deferred, payment section, fuakau, the Board resolved to issue the certificate of title, all the conditions having been complied with. The Residence Condition*] — Mr. W. Spear appealed that his homestead selection at Opuawhanga should not be declared forfeited, as though he often had to be absent ■from the land, his wife and family- were living there. The question arose as to whether the residence of only the wife and family constituted *' residence " as required by the Act. Mr. Bagnall thought it did, and said that a decision to that effect had been given by Mr. Keurick. After some discussion, the explanation was accepted as satisfactory. Recreation Reserve. — The Board resolved to ask His Excellency the Governor to set apart section 33, Block 11., Tangihua, 65 acres, as a recreation reserve. Applications fop- Land.An application from Alex. Wallace and others, that 165 acres at Kaiaka, Mangonui County, be offered for selection under homestead system was granted. The consideration of an application from D. G. Lane for about 50 acres, Russell, on perpetual lease, was deferred. It was decided that 7/5 acres, Tangihua, asked for by James Sands, jun., should be scheduled as unsurveyed lands. With regard to an application from John Webb for a lease of lot *218, section 1, Opotiki, the question of leasing the reserve in which this is included was referred to the Opotiki Road Board.,, The Board resolved to submit to auction lot 75, Taupiri, applied for by F. Hill. James Berry applied for sections 521, 524, 513, and 514, Alexandra East, but as these are Government reserves the application was declined. W. McLean asked that four sections at Te Aroha should be offered for selection. They were offered for sale last April, and not sold. The Board resolved to ask the Government to offer them again. An application that lots 439 and 440, section 2, Opotiki, be reclassified and offered for sale, was received from R. Thompson ; as he has now a, lease of the land, it was decided to continue that arrangement. In reply to an application from A. Thomas, it was resolved to oifer two lots at Waihi as small grazing runs. As H. Palmer wished to select some of Block 11., Tryphena, unsurveyed land, it was resolved to offer the block for selection. In reference to an- application from W. A. Murray, for sections in Block VII., Awaroa, it was decided that one section of 43£ acres should be submitted for sale by auction, but that the other two, which are road reserves, should not be sold. Other minor applications were dealt with.

Day of Meeting.—Some discussion took place regarding the day of meeting, and eventually it was resolved to meet in future on the second Friday of tho month at two p.m. The next meeting is to bo held on the 13th of November.

Cattle Reserves.—The Board decided at a suggestion of Mr. Thompson, to withdraw from sale some sections in various parts of the North, in order that they might be used as camping grounds for cattle.
