- \ Ottawa, September 20. The newspapers supporting the Hon. 11. Mercier, Premier of Quebec, threaten that Quebec will be driven to independence or annexation to the United States if the Government of the Dominion attempts to dictate or threaten expulsion of the Government.
The Canadian House of Commons have unanimously' adopted an address to Her Majesty the Queen, asking her to abolish the "most favoured nation" clause in commercial treaties, at the same time pointing out that its retention obstructs the extension of Canadian trade.
During the discussion on the motion, Mr. J. J. Abbott., the Premier, declared that the scheme propounded by the British Empire Trade League was most attractive, and not impossible to carry out.
Ottawa, September 25. The House of Commons of the Dominion Parliament has, by a majority of 15, adopted the report of the committee inquiring into the charges of corruption levelled at Mr. Thomas McGreevy and Sir H.Langevin,in which it was recommended that the former be expelled from Parliament, while in the hitter's case the committee were unable to agree as to his guilt. •
