VOLUNTEER INTELLIGENCE.
VICTORIA lIIFLKS. TiiEmcmberaof thiscorps mustered instrong force at Mount Eden on Saturday, to tako part in the fourth annual competition for the Schnpp Belt, presented to the company by the widow of the late Mr. L. A. Schapp. The competition created a groat deal of excitement amongst the younger members, who thought they were quite able to put the" cracks " down, but they were doomed to disappointment, the winner turning up in Volunteer M. Fairs. The weather was very bad for good shooting, several heavy showers falling while at the 300. yards range, which accounts tor the position of several of the old shots. The firing was under the supervision of Lieutenant R. L. Somers. The following is the result of the shooting : — V 200 yds. 300 yds. 400 yds. 600 yds. Tl. Volunteer M. Fairs 27 19 31 it — 01 Vol. I'.
