AMUSEMENTS.
At the City Hall, on Saturday last, Miss Amy Vaughan and her company cave another of their attractive and enjoyable entertainments for the people. The audience was a very large and enthusiastic one. Many novelties were introduced into the programme, amongst which an extremely bright) and pretty rural scene, entitled Harvest Home," was especially notice able, and was heartily applauded. The military descriptive song by Miss Amy Vaughan, entitled, " The Pardon Came Too Late," with dramatic effects, was a very pronounced success. In addition to the above a number of songs, step dances, and musical performances were well executed and heartily received, and the entertainment was, altogether, a good one. The attendance at Wesley Hall on Saturday evening was very encouraging, a largo number being present. An excellent programme was presented by the kindness of the Pitt-street church choir, under the con-; ductoi'thip of Mr. Culpan. The items were as follows : — Instrumental trio, Miss Neilsen, Miss and Master Berry; chorus, " Watchword," choir ; song, " Anchored," Mr. Musker; song, "'Scenes That Arc Brightest," Miss G'aley ; chorus, " The Maid of the Flour de Lys," choir ; song, "The Maid of the Mill," Miss Nielsen, with harp accompaniment; quartette, " Woodbird," Mr. and Mrs. Culpan, Mr. and Mrs. Taylor ; song, " Life Story," Mr. A. Miss Nielsen's song gave great pleasure, and as an encore piece she rendered a Scandinavian song. Mr. Rosser was also very successful, and in response to an encore gave a recitation, " Paddy the Valiant." Mr. Forbes Forbes' reading provoked great merriment, and he had to submit to an encore. Ho gavo, "Mr. Middlerib's Cure for Rheumatism." The duct by Miss Blackburn and Mr. Johnson was a great success, and they had to repeat part of it over again. Mr. Forbes Forbes played most of the accompaniments. Miss Nielsen also accompanied Miss Caley's song with the harp.
