SHOOTING TOURNAMENT AT WAIUKU.

On Monday last, the 23th of May, the Shooting Tournament took place at the Butts, Waiuku. The weather was very foggy \vo to about ten a.m., which prevented the commencement of the firing for two hours,, consequently, it was impossible to complete the firing, as the days are short. Those who could not complete had to come on the following morning, when the weather was beautifully fine. There were 10(5 entries, but about 20 short of that number competed. There were a large number of prizes, ranging in value from £1 down to 2a od, mostly the gifts of competitors. A very large majority of those competing obtained prizes. There were four targets 6 by 4, and the ranges were 200, 300, and 400 yards, five shots at each range, any position. The competitors were divided into three classes. Major Hamlin was in command, and did the scoring. The marking was done by an officer or non-com-missioned officer and two men, who were relieved at intervals. The oompetitition was open to allcomers.
