■'"• : '■' '•—-—— ~ A meeting of farmersland others interested in establishing an Agricultural and Pastoral Association was held yesterday at W. J. Hurst and . Co.'s store, iQueen-street. v; Mr. F. Massey presided, and\there was a good attendance. It was an adjournment of a meeting previously held, vVhen the bases of the association were laid, ahd■ this meeting was for the final decision din the rules and the election of officers. \ Prior to commencing the business largQ number of new members ','.: were, proposed ."elected , and a list of"; members was ; read dyer; also the rules adopted at last meetine.\ Mr. Wren gave notice to move " That the\ name of the society be the Auckland Provincial Agricultural Association." i This w'as seconded by Mr. A. Laybourn; -: Mr. Peacpeke urged j. that the word " pastoral " shouloi be added. Mr. J. Phillipps argued that aS this was only *an adjourned meeting, it 'would be competent to deal with the matter! how, but the Chairman ruled that it would 'be out of order, and the notice of motion wa;S allowed to stand for next meeting. On th t motion of Mr. Wren it was agreed that fche rules bo printed and distributed amonißst the members for their consideration. (Several additional rules as to debate, secretary's and treasurer's » duties, and tt} afc • all moneys be paid vby cheque signed ?$7 the president, secretary, and treasurer, etc., I were proposed by Mr. Grainger, ancjl car- [ ried. The meeting then proceeded tcf eleot officers, the result being as follows ]r —Ou the motion of Mr. i Phillipps, Mr. >W« 7-EV Massey was elected president, and fl e returned thanks. Messrs. W. F. Buclpand, F. Lawry, ?F. Rutherford, Every Maclean, and J. Bainbridge were elected vice-presi-dents. Mr. Grainger was elected \trea-; surer. The appointment of secretary (a paid office) was left in the hands oif the committee; and the meetingV then \P ro ' ceeded to elect a committee of twenty 9 members, exclusive of ' the chairmen* of country, farmers' clubs, and the president and vice-presidents. ; After some nominations had been received, it was determined to defer the election .till next meeting, i*«d Mr. Dunsvoodie gave notice to move t.<hat the committee should be forty instead oi twenty-four. -■ I
