The general opinion in the city is that Queensland ought :to issue short-term Treasury bills, or renew debentures for six months. , , , It is reported that the Queensland National Bank was ready to subscribe if the public had offered half. - The Financial News declares that the attempt to float ; the Queensland loan is the worst fiasco that has ever overtaken the issue of a colonial loan. Brisbane, May 29. ■•; * In connection with the failure of the Queensland loan, it is stilted that the Bank of England, being fully possessed of \ the facts, has expressed its willingness to assist the; colony toj promptly meet its engagements, and therefore no difficulty will be experienced in meeting the payments due on July 1. ; » V
