New Zealand Herald Office, Friday evening. The Customs duties to-day amounted to £1076 103 Id.

The following is a statement showing the amount of Customs duties, after deducting refunds, collected in the port of Auckland during the month of April:—

Total .. .. £33,036 3 6 Gold duty 47 10 0 Mr. T. M. Jackson sold by auction at his mart to-day by order of the liquidator of the New Zealand Stud Company iv parcel of 148 acres land, a portion of the Sylvia Park estate. After brisk competition Mr. A. Austin secured the lot for £2005.

Messrs. Arthur and Buddle's Weekly Report.— Business has been up to the average. In values of produce there is little or no change to report. Several lines of Southern potatoes have come forward during the week, in addition to the locally grown, but the demand has not been correspondingly active. We quote : £3 for Southern (sacks in), and for prime local £3 to £3 10s (sacks extra). Onions of first quality are scarce, and in demand. Canterbury hams and bacon have been in good supply, and sales effected at 7<l to 7Jd, and Sd to BJd in small quantities; by the case, ejd, for even numbers. Fresh butter has been short of demand, at full values; corned has sold freely during the week ; there is a good inquiry for Sr.-.t-clas3. There lias be--1) an active demand for good cheese, and best dairies have realised up to 4d. Fresh eggs continue very scarce. Grain of all kinds has sola well. The supply i.i fruit has been smaller, owing to the large quantities that are being exported, average prices have shown a considerable iiapiovement on previous quotations. Poultry his bean in good supply, at about lust week's prices. Auction sales for the week have been six in number, all at the Mart: Poultry, produce, and fruit, on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, drapery on Wednesday. On Thursday a »ale of property, being a dwellinghouse and allotment in Collingwoocf-street, the bidding was languid, and did not come up to the owner's reserve. Household urn it on the same day sold well. We quote the following prices at which we have sold during the week, privately and by auction, viz.: Good /owls, Is 3d to Is lOd; in poor condition, 6d to Is; roosters in condition. Messrs. Esam and ARTHUR'S WEEKLY REPORT. The produce market is not distinguished by any marked alterations during the week, except in potatoes, which have receded in value by about 10s per ton. We quote: Prices nominal at £3 for first quality; Southern shipments have glutted the market, and the supply from all sources is far in excess of requirements. Fowl wheat is scarce and in good demand at 3s 3d to 3s 4d wholesale. Maize is firmer, although we think only temporarily—value 3s to 3s 2d. Oats: Some little activity has t.ken place, but prices iemain about the same; quality shows no improvement. We have sold during the week at Is (Jd to 2s 3d, the latter figure for very prime heavy short. Bacon : The demand for Southern continues good; no local submitted to auction. Onions: For really prime we quota £6 IDs, and have orders yet to complete at this figure. Eggs continue scarce; pickled, at 9d to Is; guaranteed fresh, Is 7d to Is Sd, Bran and sharps are in steady demand at £3 16s to £4 5s respectively. Cheese: Several large consignments to band, and cleared at an average of 3d. Vegetable.-! were staged in abundance. Fruit: 'the supply has been good and prices show an improvement, particularly in apples. Mr. Alexander aitken's Market Report for the week ending 2nd May: Business generally active, and the output for the week was considerably beyond the average. The demand for fruit has be«n unlimited at further advanced rates. All lines sold at auction under very k?en competition. The supply for the week lias been fully 1000 cases of all kinds, and every case his been; disposed of. Firstclass cocking apples, in lines from lid to lid; medium lots, Id to ljd ; inferior and niothed, jjd to' Id. Dessert: Cox's Orange, lsd ; Adams' Pearmain, l|d to ljd ; Simmon's Winter, lfd to ljd ; Stone's Pippin, lid to ljd ; Ohinemuii, ljd to ljd; Pear's Beurre lsi*l, 2jd to 3Jd; other dessert, 24d to 3d ; Napoleon, ljd to 2d other second-class, ljd to ljd. On Wednesday 1084 bunches bananas, ex Wainui, were disposed of, prices ruling very low, owing to the market being overstocked. . Prices were 9d to 2s 3d bunch. 250 bunches, ex s.s. Little Agnes, from Norfolk Island, realised from 6cl to is la per bunch. Bacon : new cure in good supply at 4d to 7d ; hams, 6d to 8d ; Canterbury, 3id to 7d. Lard, 2d to 3d. Honey in strong demand—firstclass, in bulk, 3Jd ; other, tins, 3Jd to 4d ; section, 4d. Potatoes continue plentiful and rather dull at £2 5s to £3 10s sacks included. Onions of prime quality in demand beyond supply at £«, and flu to jd for small lots. Garlic, no demand. Wheat, very scarce; fowl feed,, 33 3d to 3s 6d ; milling, 3s 8d to 4s; carrots, Is 6d to Is 9d ; pumpkins, Is to 2s 2d ; mangolds, 0d to Is ; chaff, £2 10s; cabbages, 6d to Is tid per sack ; bran, very scarce at 4s ; sharps, 5s ; potato seed onions, jd to Id. penned in large numbers; owing to scarcity of feed Tdluos for this line are lower, namely, first-class young lots, 6a to 9s 6d ; medium small and large rough, 2s 6d to 6s Bd.
